NOVEMBER 2024 | APPRECIATING MUMMY MOLLY MUSANA ADYEERI

It is a settled fact that every human being has a mother. I can't tell why I am already smiling but come to think of it, it is NOT just about human beings but every creature. Each of us, each and every creature here-living has a mother! This is the foundation of this conversation; the foundation of life.

Allow me to make a reflection on/about my mother, Molly Musana Adyeeri. Let her be considered as point of contact for all mothers.

Over the years, I have heard people say that none of us chose the parents that we have; no one chose the family where we belong. It could be true. But we are here and we are there, anyway. It is therefore important that we appreciate who we are, where we hail from, who we belong to and where we are headed. Should you ever find yourself not liking your parents or your family, please re-read this article. Should you feel grateful that you have the best parents and family to which you belong, please read this article again and share it with your people.

Mom (Molly Musana Adyeeri) is one in a million. She is pure gold with no impurities - a true gift from heaven above. That is my statement. I have also heard people complain that some people have overstayed their stay and that they needed some other people to take over and lead them. My case is different. I can never feel that my mother has overstayed. In fact, I pray that she will stay and stay, and after staying, she should stay again, as my mother.

I vividly remember my earlier years. She did so much to help me understand the importance of smartness and the need to work hard. She showed and taught me the way of faith in God and this was the true meaning of the scripture that calls upon every parent to train a child in the way they should go so that when they are old, they shall not depart from it. I am lucky that I got a mother and a father, relatives and people who helped me grow into the child I was, then, and the man I am today.

Mom is a Queen in her Kingdom. Yes. We know kingdoms to be headed by Kings. Without engendering the discussion, I am tempted to think and believe that Mom has the heart and mind of a King. Either way, I am the Prince. All she has done and all that she continues to do qualifies her as a strong King. I don't know what is greater than a Kingdom as that is what she would then have to head.

Mom is the only mother who has fought and won the toughest of battles. Relatives and friends close to my family know that we have had episodes and seasons of trials or tests that have pulled us down. There was 2010 (loss of Brian), 2014 (loss of Daniel); 2017 (loss of Herbert), 2023 (loss of Dad) and now 2024 (loss of Simon). By documenting these, I not only wish to remember them but to encourage myself and gather the strength to tell myself that I if we went through those years, wars and trials and we are still alive, we can live one more day by the grace of God; that our past experiences can never slow us down in any way till we overcome, some day.

The mother I am talking about is the one who has tried all she can or could to see that we as children, live a good and deserving life and advance in life. Though I can't seem to confirm that she has achieved on her part, I can testify that her faith is what has brought some of us this far. We could have been no more but we have seen Mom and heard her tell us that we will go through it all by the grace and mercy of God. Indeed, we are going through, one day at a time with our God.

It may not matter at this point that Mom is widowed and that she hasn’t had the best of life. It matters that despite her testing times and trials in life, she has remained steadfast and committed to the faith in God whom she has believed over time. After all, God is a husband to the widow and father to the fatherless. Let the three remain as faith, hope and love but the greatest of them all is love. That is what we share, that is what we shall share all the remaining days of our lives.

Wherever you are, whoever you are, take a moment and pray for my mother as you pray for your own mother or the woman who raised you to this point that you are able to stand and be counted at such a time as this. You are blessed. As for me and all my siblings, we will do our best to make Mom one of the happiest mothers on mother earth.
