WEEKLY DEVOTION WITH RMA | FEBRUARY 26 TO MARCH 3, 2024
Topic: BE CAREFUL HOW YOU LIVE
Scripture:
EPHESIANS 5:15-20
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as
unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be
foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on
wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another
with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from
your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving
thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. |
Welcome
to this new day, Tuesday 27th February 2024 and to the last week of
February 2024. Friday will be 1st of March 2024! That creates a
greater expectation on the side of people born in March. We look forward to being carried through each day, by God's mercy and grace.
I thank God for the
opportunity to live again and for the gift of family, friends and everyone
here-living. I am one of the people who looks at everyone as being valuable in
creation and I hold the distinct opinion that each of us was created to glorify
the name of God, our Creator.
The past week is gone with
all its stories whether positive or negative. This is the nature of life; that
whether it is good or bad, whether it is simple or tough, it goes on and on,
just like the clock. As long as it has batteries, it will tick on and on in its
clockwise direction.
Friend(s),
After greeting you and
praying and hoping that you and loved ones are well and safe, I am tempted to
ask: has
anyone ever referred to you as being a fool? Has anyone ever asked whether you are/were
a fool? Have you ever felt foolish? That is the feeling we want to deal
with today.
The portion of Scripture
given today invites us to live as wise people and not unwise, not as fools.
Fools are fools, period. Whatever they think about or do is foolish. I believe
you don’t want to be one or to associate or be associated with one. On the
other hand, the wise are wise, period. They are endowed with wisdom (sounds
obvious, right?) Yes, they are able to check their conscience all the time to
be able to do what is right and pleasing before themselves, fellow human beings
and God their Creator. I pray that I (and you) shall be counted among the wise
and not the foolish.
The collective words “because the days are evil” are a
response to the question, “why should I/we live as wise and not as
fools?” We have heard of and in some cases witnessed terrible incidents
in society/communities where we live. Day after day, the local news and media
sites bring to our attention news items that point to the fact that some people
can be that heartless/ruthless – committing crimes against humanity without any
shame or favor! We see people starting up and dropping relationships as though
it is at the point of pick and play in a card game! We see parents abusing
children and children abusing parents! Oh! The days are evil, indeed!
In central Uganda, we hear
people asking, “Kati Omuntu agoinge wa,
banange?” Tell me and tell us, where should someone go? In this era of evil
days, where should someone go?
I think, for me; the answer
is simple. Let us go back to the place of our very first love (if we ever had
one). Let us go to the place where we first lived as wise people; where we loved
genuinely and where we did what was right and commendable.
This week will work out well
for us if only we reflect on the fact that without involving our Creator in
every step of the way, we will move in our own direction thinking we are wise
only to find that we were the first of fools.
I pray for the sick that you
or the people you are nursing and looking after at home or medical centers will
be healed. May those who have lost loved ones in the most recent past find
strength and comfort in God alone.
I pray that whoever is
traveling shall have safe journey(s). I pray that it shall be well with that
person who is searching for a job. I pray for that person who is expecting
money and assistance from here and there. May God come through for you and your
people.
I cancel whatever plan(s)
that the enemy(ies) have against you/us. I render the enemy(ies) powerless and
that all their intentions are defeated. I come against retardation, failure,
financial insufficiency, intolerance, hatred, misery.
We are children of the
most-high God and we have already overcome. We will live and not die and we
shall tell of the goodness of God in this land of the prosperous.
Create a good atmosphere or
ambiance for yourself and those around you. Celebrate Life.
Wishing you the very best.
