FEBRUARY 12 TO 18, 2024 | DO NOT SUFFER FOR LONG; YOU ARE BLESSED

WEEKLY DEVOTION WITH MUGISA ABWOOLI

Scripture: PSALM 30:5

For his anger endures but a moment; in his will is life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

A very warm welcome to this new week which we start on Monday 12th and expect to conclude well and victoriously on Sunday 18th February 2024.

As you can see, we are not joking but are living life to the full according to God’s Word in John 10:10. That portion of Scripture mentions that the thief has no other business but to steal, kill and destroy. That is so bad, so negative. But because to every general rule in law there is an exception, some of us decide intentionally to take the exception which is to the effect that JESUS CAME THAT WE MAY HAVE LIFE AND HAVE THAT LIFE TO THE FULL. This means that no matter what may come our way, good or bad, as long as it did not destroy us, we will live our lives to fullness.

One of the promises (among the numerous ones) of God is that HE WILL SATISFY US WITH LONG LIFE (Psalm 91:16). He also assures us that HE ALONE KNOWS THE PLANS HE HAS FOR US; PLANS NOT TO HARM US BUT TO GIVE US A FUTURE AND A HOPE (Jeremiah 29:11). This means that from the beginning of time, God has intended that we live lives devoid of pain and suffering. Some of us have been lucky to test and see God’s goodness and when you see us testifying all the time, please pardon us because we cannot keep quiet when God does good to us.

I thank God for the gift of life that we possess today.

Yesterday is gone with all its goodness, with all its pains. Today is here and our best option should be to rejoice and be glad throughout the day. We should be glad throughout the week; throughout the month; throughout the year. We are reminded that EVERYONE BORN OF WOMAN HAS FEW DAYS ON EARTH (Job 14:1-2). Why then would we live our lives in misery? Why don’t we live our lives rejoicing as though each day is the last? Not as fools but as wise (Ephesians 5:15). Living each day as though it is the last does not mean wasting it. We must have a clear plan and strategy to today, tomorrow and a million years ahead.

I pray for all leadership at various levels, top-bottom. I thank GOD for this nation, Uganda and her neighbors. I thank God for Ugandans in the diaspora and for the relative peace that prevails today. May God’s name be exalted in all nations and may we live to see and tell of His goodness and mercy. I thank GOD for everyone who celebrated and is celebrating important days of their lives. May joy increase and never end.

I remember people who are going through challenges of different kinds. May GOD reach out to you by His mercy and deal with that situation so that you will not suffer for long but find a reason to thank and give glory to GOD our Creator, more and more.

I cancel whatever plan the enemy has against me and against each of us. I disassociate myself from negative talk and negative plans this week. Instead, I receive God’s love and protection. I declare and proclaim that we are victorious; we are more than conquerors through Christ our Lord, amen.

Have peace of mind. This world is moving forward at its pace. It's very fast. Don't chase it. Move at your fast pace, not the world's. You will reach your destination, if you have one.

Wishing you the very best of the week.
