WEEKLY DEVOTION WITH RMA_OCTOBER 9 TO 15, 2023

Topic: WE ARE FREE AND FREE INDEED

Scripture Reference: John 8:36

A good day to you and loved ones is my biggest wish and declaration.

Happy Independence Day from Uganda! We thank GOD for the gift of life and for the freedom that we are able to enjoy. As most of us are aware, Uganda gained her independence from colonial rule on October 9, 1962 meaning that today we are celebrating the 61st independence anniversary of the country. The celebrations are taking place in Kitgum district under the theme, “Sustaining a United and Progressive Nation: Taking Charge of Our Future As A Free Nation.”

My dear friend,

You and I are free! It is well spelt out in John 8:36 that he who the Son sets free is free indeed. I believe that without sounding very religious, it almost counts to state that freedom is very necessary and as the nation celebrates independence, I pray and declare that all citizens shall feel and enjoy the freedom that comes with the day today and the days ahead.

Through this devotion, I am calling on all of us to work hard and smart towards love, peace and unity. It starts with us as individuals then spreads out to the nation. Uganda and the other nations of the world are blessed and shall continue to be blessed if we come to the realization that life is wonderful for each of us and we must guard it well. Yes, life is precious and with it, we could do anything and everything.

As some of us take off a day of rest, I request us to take some time off and pray fervently to God to sustain us as a nation. We are reminded in James 5:6 that the effective fervent prayer of the righteous accomplishes much. I pray that God shall grant us peace and oneness in spirit and purpose and bring an end to misery, suffering and pain. Let us pray that everyone shall be treated with respect and that there shall be an end to human rights abuses and violations. I pray in accordance with God’s Word in Psalm 118:17 that we will all live and not die and that we shall proclaim the goodness of God in this land of the living and the prosperous. This is the day that God has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it in accordance with Psalm 118:24.

I remind us that we are all born free and equal in dignity and rights. This is spelt out in Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948. It is my utmost desire that we will see more of us coming up to speak for and defend the weak and vulnerable in our society.

I end by speaking healing unto the sick and wishing the very best to all of us in all things. Let us confess positivity upon ourselves and refuse all works of the enemy (ies). I declare that the enemy has no authority of us. We are released from bondage; we are free indeed.

Happy day.
