AUGUST 2021 | THE MONTH OF A SECOND CHANCE
The past is gone, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17
We cannot stay where we
are, we cannot do things the way we used to. We cannot limit ourselves anymore or
sit in regret and lamentation. No, no, never. Let’s arise and embrace the new
life that our Creator has granted us in this new month. Okay? Yes, come on,
hold my hand. Let’s take a walk of faith.
Uganda is “freeing”
itself from the 42 days or more it spent in lock down due to the COVID-19 cases
that had surged to uncontrollable figures in June thereby calling for
intervention of the leadership of the nation. I know, we are living in such
unprecedented times. No one ever thought this pandemic would last this long or
affect us this much but it did, it has and it “would” if not for the
intervention of God our refuge and strength; our ever present help in times of
trouble. Psalm 46:1. No doubt, we have come thus far and will go farther
in life only by the grace, mercy and with the leading of the Spirit of God. Zechariah
4:6. We will not die but live to proclaim what the Lord has done. Psalm
118:17.
I send sincere
condolences to all those who lost loved ones in the recent past whether due to
COVID-19 or other complications. Take heart, God cares and understands the
situation you are going through. He is totally aware of the grief or pain you
are experiencing. I may relate this to what is written in 1 Corinthians
10:13 that no temptation [trial] has overtaken you except what is common to
mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you
can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you
can endure it.
Why do I say August
2021 is a month of a second chance? Literally, it means that we had a first
chance or opportunity to advance but it passed as we watched. It wasn’t because
we didn’t recognize or seize it but something stood in our way. Something kept
holding us back as we wanted to go forth; something couldn’t allow us to take
hold of what was ours.
Our statement today is:
that
is gone to be seen no more. We have clearance to move on, to capture what we
missed. We have a second chance.
I am certain that life
has so much to offer us this month. I am convinced that each of us is alive
today to accomplish or fulfill a given purpose. Check and ask yourself, inquire
from your inner-being what that purpose is. You have a second opportunity to
work towards achieving every dream in your life. Besides, we have God of all
mankind with or for whom nothing is too hard. Jeremiah 32:27. We must
use our tongues to speak wonderful and positive words upon our lives. As it written
in Proverbs 18:21, the tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it eat its fruit. This is a season to stand firm and
declare progress and to remove every barrier that stood or is still standing in
our way. We must have a clear vision and focus on what we wish to see in our lives
in the next thirty-one days and beyond.
Allow me conclude this
piece with the fact that it is wise and proper to continue looking at everyone here-living
as a fellow human being created in the wonderful image of God. It is provided
under Article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) that
all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. There is therefore
no justification whatsoever for one to stand in the way of another; no justification
at all for one to limit the rights of another. After all, with regard to this
world, we are but mere passersby. What we ought to pray and work for is
salvation for our souls because it does not profit us in any way to crave for
or eat the whole world and in the end lose our souls. Mark 8:36. Let’s
share this life. Whatever little we have, let’s share with those around us if
we have the chance or opportunity. Life is better lived with faith, hope and
love but the greatest of them is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13.
This is how we win on
the second chance.
