Introduction
Praise God so
much! Amen.
I thank God for
the gift of life, new day and the opportunity through our dear Bishop, The Most
Rev. Reuben Kisembo Amooti to minister among us.
My name is Mugisa
Robert Abwooli. I am married to Karungi Moreen Mugisa Abooki with whom I have
spent seven years and we are on our journey to the 8th that we shall
celebrate on 7th September. God has blessed us with two beautiful
daughters Atulinda Sheena Adyeeri and Ninsiima Makayla Patience Abwooli.
We thank God for
sustaining our relationship with Him as our God and with ourselves as a couple
but more still with our children, relatives, friends and countrymen and women.
I am mindful that life moves around relationships – good relationships at that.
The Sermon: The Fulfilling Christian Life
The leading theme for 2021 is “Life in its fullness” as derived
from John 10:10b.
When we talk of a fulfilling Christian Life, we are
talking about living life to the full – without lack – without deficiency.
We have read from portions of Scripture John 10:1-10; Psalm 121
from which we learn that GOD is our all in all. He knows us well as our creator
and Shepherd; He watches over us in all situations.
Let’s beware that when one hears of full Christian life, one might easily compare it with fool Christian life because it actually
exists. One lives their life recklessly and yet they are in church. They may
look as though they are thriving based on earthly standards but in terms of the
Christ-likeness, their lives are empty.
Some key considerations/Questions
i.
Who is a Christian?
ii.
What is Life? What do we mean when we talk of full life?
iii.
Does it really matter talking about full life?
A Christian is someone
whose behavior and heart reflects Jesus Christ. www.copmassion.com
Life is the aspect of
existence that processes, acts, reacts, evaluates and evolves through growth
(reproduction and metabolism). www.philosophynow.com
Living life to fullest means continually reaching out for newer,
richer, deeper, life-changing experiences and using those experiences as a
means for personal growth and pushing the boundaries of yourself mentally,
spiritually and intellectually for the betterment of yourself and the world at
large. www.quora.com
Let’s pose and make a reflection here:
i.
What is it that
we feel about ourselves?
ii.
Are we living
life to the full?
iii.
Are we fulfilled
or being fulfilled as Christians?
Whether our answers are in the affirmative or in the negative, we
may agree that a fulfilling Christian is not just about material possessions
but the inner feeling and self realization that God created us for a reason; he
loves us and knows everything that happens to us.
Therefore, let these be our take homes today; that a fulfilling
Christian life which each of should receive is one involving:
i.
Total trust in God
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean
not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make
your paths straight.
John 14:1
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in
God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so,
I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
ii.
Prayer, fellowship and thanksgiving
Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit at on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always
keep on praying for all the saints.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually/without ceasing; give thanks in
all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
iii.
No worries – Hakuna matata
Mathew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for
tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
iv.
Unconditional love
1 Corinthians 13:13; 1 John 4:20
And now these three remain: faith, hope and
love. But the greatest of these is love. We cannot say we love God whom we
can’t see and hate our brothers and sisters whom we live with and see.
v.
Never giving up – Onward Christian soldiers
Philippians 2:12
We ought to work out our salvation
with fear and trembling knowing that this world is not our home – we are just
passing through.
Conclusion:
I pray that God will continue to cover us with his love and grace. Amen.
